Our last joint activity in 2014 was a festive trip to the Christmas Market in Egersund. Our first stop in Egersund was to Berentsens Brewery. Harald Berentsen, the 4th generation owner, gave us
an interesting talk on the company’s history and products. This was followed by a walk to the Grand Hotel to have our delicious Christmas lunch. Johan Åkre gave us a very informative,
“behind the scenes” talk about the Christmas market town. Kjersti Søyland Bye, Sales Manager of The Grand Hotel showed us the hotel. Afterwards we had time for a wander around the Christmas
markets.
The Stavanger Guide Association celebrated 40 years with a party at Frida Hansens House in Hillevåg. It was a most enjoyable evening with good food, festive songs, a raffle, reminiscing on years
past ...a very cosy atmosphere and as everyone agreed, a very successful night.
An exciting day was held over on Hundvåg. We met Rolf Norås Pettersen from Rosenberg who gave us some background information on the site. The most important thing we must remember is that
Rosenberg is NOT a shipyard and should not be called that! It has been over 40 years since a ship was built there. It can be called Rosenberg Worley Parsons or Rosenberg Engineering yard. After
our talk we were fitted out with protective clothing and given a thorough tour of the offshore yard. We saw a subsea structure taking shape for the “Snow white” field and pipe welding
activity.
