The first activity of the year 2016 was a guided tour at the Lervig brewery. The beer ambassadress Natalie Mac Lachlan told us in a very charming and lively way something about Lervig’s history, the beer which is brewed, how they brew it and what’s in the beer. We were lucky to taste eight different kinds of beer: Lucky Jack, White Dog, Sour Suzy, Hoppy Joe, Betty Brown, Lervig Saison, Sauer’d Krauts (with cabbage, pineapple and mango as ingredients!) and Double Black Tide.
We started our tour at Byterminalen in Stavanger with a group of 20 guides in a very good temper. Boreal Travel sponsored us with a bus and Trygve Byrkjedal volunteered for driver.
We started at 5 pm and had fantastic weather. We took the Nordsjøveien where Andrea Lorenz told us about the beaches of Jæren, the sand and the lyme grass. Our first stop was at Vestgaard mat, where the owner Bernt Lerøy welcomed us. We got samples of different regional dishes.
Later we continued to Mingar Walker Glassblåseri where we learned more about the glassblower’s art. Then we drove on to Bryne. A representative of the municipality of Time took us on the topmost floor of the Høghuset (19th floor) where we got served coffee and cake and enjoyed an overwhelming view on the city.
We were back in Stavanger at 11 pm and were very pleased about such an eventful day.
